When a young half-breed French/Indian boy turns up with his violin at an isolated Canadian trading post, his life and the lives of all there change forever. This narrative begins with the death of a young wife and the commitment of two men to a baby girl. The story tells the life of these three people over a seventeen year period. Life is hard in the north and life often hangs by a thread. This is an adventure story with love, hardship and honor thrown in for good measure.
