Changing Earth is part of the Smithsonian Science Stories Literacy Series. Changing Earth features short stories and is aligned to grade 2 standards with a focus on science and engineering. In Changing Earth, students will read about real-world examples of land shaped by water and wind. They will see how Earth changes quickly and slowly. They will also read about problems related to erosion that people have to solve.
Changing Earth includes the following features:
- Stories that focus on stability and change on Earth
- Stories that highlight science and engineering careers
- Incorporation of objects from Smithsonian collections, including the Inkas’ terraces from the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian and plant and animal photographs from the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute
