Description

The purpose of this course is to increase the knowledge base of social workers and other allied mental health professionals who can work to incorporate the tenets of evidence-based practice into their own work with clients. In addition, members of the public may use this course to enhance their personal knowledge of the subject matter presented. 

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to: 

1. Define evidence-based practice.
2. Describe the historical trends of evidence-based practice.
3. Discuss what constitutes "best evidence" for evidence-based practice.
4. Identify the arguments for and against the inclusion of evidence-based practice in social work.
5. Describe the barriers to and predictive factors for implementing evidence-based practice in social work.
6. Discuss how evidence-based practice is used ethically in social work with racially and ethnically diverse populations and communities.
7. Describe practical tips to implement evidence-based practice into day-to-day work.
