As a mother and teacher, I try to do what Audrey has done for countless others: lead by example, listen intently, and provide a lamp to light the way for others as they figure out what’s best for themselves and the world in which they live. When we look back, we realize how important role models can be in helping to shape our lives. Thank you Audrey Foley, for all you did for me and so many of my friends. You don’t know what kind of an influence you had on us.

The wisdom in these sermons is at once concrete and heartfelt. They are the fruit of experience of a remarkable woman who, whatever the pressures of the circumstances, never failed to keep true north, to found her life on a clear and deep relationship to God and to what is means to be a Christian. I had the incredible luck to grow up as the woman’s grand-daughter, to grow up revering her, and seek to make myself in the mold. Her presence in my life has given me guidance when I was lost, light in dark moments. Now, in this book, her words, her eloquence, her reminders of what is really important, are set down, and others may follow her and learn from her as I have done.
